The moment such question arises one knows that the politician was in power too long. Also, it is one of the main measures for any political activity - if after a rule of a certain politician you don't see a proper replacement, his rule was a disaster

It does. If a politician's influence is so bad it is clear that continuation of his rule is worse than replacement by whoever will be on the top of what's left.
Each day you don't do it the politician who overstayed gets crazier, but also the alternatives still seem far below - where would they get practice and would the crazy in power let them?

"Whoever fits best of the rest" is completely rational answer. Take the rest and see who among them fits better is more rational than keeping aging, everyday crazier head of the state, who from survival instincts will try to ensure that potential successors will not get far and so the system in general will degenerate up until this "irreplaceable" man will lose it completely. And one would need to build a new set of politicians from almost the base level. (This is in the best case, in the worst case there would be a set of underground leaders who are readier to take power than those who remained in the legal framework)
At some moment the next tsar is too old, he is sick or dead and everyone around him are not politicians, but his courtiers. Not the best way to ensure the smooth continuity of rule.
In any country there is always plenty of people who can do a job not terribly worse than the current leader. I'm not such a rusophob to pretend that Russia is different.
I repeat, if one gets in the position that he is irreplaceable ruler - he expired. It is unsafe to consume expired products. Even if you don't like what you see on the shelves, whatever you will find there to suit you is better than the item that expired. And, unfortunately, with rulers it is even worse than with products, because once they got into such mood, they do a lot to ensure that alternative will not grow.

It does work. Simply I'm not a Russian to do this selection process. I know that there will be candidates and I believe that Russian people will be able to choose someone if they are presented with a choice.
I'm following my advice. In Ukraine when I thought that Kuchma gets too close to expiration I was for changing him. And when Yanukovych expired, I was for changing him. And while living in the US I'm for changing politicians (and one big problem we can observe is that on Senate and House level they don't change often enough).
If what I say is so obvious, why did you object? If you from the start suggested that you are interested in who is a good candidate (and not "who can replace Putin") and didn't start that shit with "it is an emotional answer" I would not say those truisms to you.
However, your position was that you don't see who can replace Putin - exactly in this terms. Which shows that it is not obvious to you that the question is not "if not Putin, than who?", the question is "who is after Putin?" This must be a truism. And it is not for too many, including you.

Для этого достаточно Путину уйти в отставку. Россияне быстренько сами найдут кучу причин его ненавидеть.
